Enjoying street culture in the Temple Bar area
Pia:  I had a really funny day in Dublin.  There were a lot of crazy people with funny styles.  Sometime, I would like to go back to Dublin to see more of this nice city.

Johanna:  Dublin is a crazy city.  I liked it very much.  The people have a cool style.  It was an amazing day!

Kelly:  I liked the day in Dublin very much because the people were open and the whole city had a good mood.  I like the crazy people and St. Stephens Green.  It was a lovely day for everyone, and we had a lot of fun.

Lena:  The day in Dublin was very cool.  I liked the shopping, and there were nice shops.  In Dublin, they have such a different style, and there are parks everywhere.  St. Stephens Green was nice but a little bit full.

Larissa:  The day in Dublin was very interesting, and I saw a lot of things I have never seen before like the different colours of the doors of the houses.  Also, the people there were kind of special because of their styles.  This city also has a lot of business, but I had a lot of fun there and would visit Dublin again.

Melissa:  I really liked the punk style in Dublin and enjoyed watching them.

Bike Riding on the Aran Islands
Today, we went on a ferry to the Aran Islands off Ireland's west coast.  On this island, we rode bikes with good weather conditions.  The sun was shining, and there were almost no clouds.  It was very hot, so everyone was brown at the end of the day.

With our bikes, we rode to a beach on the island where the sand was very comfortable, but the water was very cool.

In the afternoon, the ferry took us back, and we went to a very nice Italian restaurant and ate pizza and pasta.

A gorgeous day at the beach
Hello, here is the Irish group.  We would like to tell you what we did on this sunny day.

At 9:00, we drove from Doolin to Galway.  On the way, we saw a lot of sheep in the mountains.

When we arrived in Galway, a city with many young people because of the university, we found it to be a very beautiful city. We went shopping and to the beach. The water was freezing!

After the beach, we ate in an Italian restaurant.  It was a delicious dinner.

It was the best and sunniest day yet.  We had a lot of fun and the chance to see the city!  We enjoyed the day and were happy that we had this nice sunny weather.

Group Tour of The Burren with Tony our 'funny' guide
Today we had a wonderful second day in Ireland.  We did a lot of things and got many new impressions from the Irish culture.  We especially got to know the Irish accent because our guide  in the Burren had a thick accent.

After breakfast, we drove with one of the fastest boats to the Cliffs of Moher where we got an amazing view of the cliffs, which are about 250 meters high.  Sadly, some of us got seasick while driving with the boat because the waves were really high, but after some minutes, back on land we were fine again.

Our next small stop was on a nice beach where we just hung out and chilled a bit.  On the way to the Burren, we had a stop at a really famous Rock Shop and had lunch in a small village.

In the Burren, we had a guide named Tony show us the nice and really exciting landscape of Ireland.  This type of landscape only exists in Ireland and so it's really special.  We think everyone enjoyed this short impression of the Irish landscape.

Our last two activities were the Irish dancing lesson and to watch the really important soccer match Ghana vs. Germany.  The dancing lesson was the most funny activity of the day.  We laughed a lot and got some new ideas about how the Irish culture is.  Finally, we watched the Germany match together where Germany won and made everyone happy.

Now, we are all tired from this nice day and looking forward to drive tomorrow to Galway.

Taking in Clonmacnoise
After our first day spent visiting Clonmacnoise Monastic Settlement and driving to Western Ireland, we spent time this morning reflecting on our first impressions of the country.  Here's what the girls had to say:

Melissa:  "Everything is green.  They have so many cows...It's SO cold!"

Kelly:  "The day was good!  I liked the places we were and that everyone is respecting each other."

Johanna:  "Very green!  Everywhere cows.  Little sweet houses...The streets are horrible."

Larissa:  "My first impression of Ireland is that here is a lot of farming.  Almost everyone has a cow, sheep, or sometimes horses...The countryside is beautiful!"

Lena:  "I didn't feel so well because the streets are so bumpy...When we went on the ocean, it was very nice.  The air was fresh and I enjoyed it."

Pia:  "The nature in Ireland is so different to Germany...Overall, I am really impressed by Ireland and looking forward to the next days."

In about 36 hours, six MYP students and Mr. Brightman will set out on an amazing tour of Western Ireland together where we will explore its history, culture and natural beauty.  Check here each day for updates starting 22nd June.  We will post pictures as well as commentary of our journey and maybe even a YouTube clip if possible.  Tell us what you think along the way!
